About This Quote
In the 19th century, the American poet Walt Whitman wrote a poem called "I Have Dreamt in My Life," in which he describes a dream in which he has a vision of a large building. In the middle of the room, he sees a man who appears to be dead. The dead man's eyes are closed and there is a look of peace on his face. Whitman describes the dead man as having a "new and beautiful face." He touches the dead man's face and awakens him from his slumber.
The dead man opens his eyes and smiles at Whitman. He then tells Whitman that he is not dead, but that he is dreaming. The dead man then asks Whitman to tell him about himself and his life.
In this dream, Whitman tells the dead man about his life and what has happened in it while he was asleep.
